$75-90/hrRemoteFreelanceSTEM

About the Role

What if your expertise in advanced mathematics could directly shape how AI reasons, solves problems, and thinks — for millions of people around the world?

We're looking for Mathematics Researchers with Masters or PhD-level credentials to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models. Your deep knowledge of algebra, calculus, statistics, or discrete mathematics will be put to work building the mathematical backbone of next-generation AI systems.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience needed — just serious mathematical expertise and a sharp eye for rigor and precision.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Develop, solve, and review advanced mathematical problems with real-world relevance and intellectual depth
  • Apply your expertise in algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, or related fields to design complex, well-structured problem statements
  • Evaluate AI-generated mathematical reasoning for correctness, rigor, and clarity
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to push the boundaries of AI mathematical capability
  • Ensure precision, logical consistency, and depth across all deliverables
  • Work independently on task-based assignments — fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Holds a Master's or PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field
  • Deeply proficient in one or more of: algebra, calculus, statistics, or discrete mathematics
  • Experienced coding in Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica for research or applied projects
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented — you notice gaps in logic, missing steps, and subtle errors
  • Clear and precise written communicator in English
  • Able to work independently and asynchronously without close supervision

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or AI evaluation workflows
  • Background in academic research, technical writing, or peer review
  • Familiarity with mathematical problem-solving competitions or curriculum design
  • Experience translating complex mathematical concepts into clear, accessible explanations

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside the world's leading AI research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, intellectually stimulating work
  • Make a direct, tangible impact on how AI understands and reasons through mathematics
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
