Film Scene Description Specialist

$40-120/hrRemoteFreelanceGENERAL

About the Role

What if your eye for visual storytelling could directly shape how AI understands cinema? We're looking for Film Scene Description Specialists to watch short video clips and translate what they see into precise, structured prose — capturing camera movement, mood, pacing, and visual emotion in a way that teaches AI systems how to interpret the language of film.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role open to anyone who loves visual media and has a knack for clear, descriptive writing. No professional film experience required — just a genuine interest in how scenes are crafted and a commitment to doing quality work.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Watch short film or video clips and break them down into detailed, beat-by-beat visual descriptions
  • Describe camera angles, movement, framing, blocking, pacing, and emotional tone using purely visual language
  • Communicate the mood and atmosphere of a scene without referencing dialogue or audio
  • Follow standardized formatting guidelines to produce consistent, structured scene summaries
  • Maintain accuracy and quality across a high volume of scene descriptions
  • Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • A genuine interest in film, television, or visual storytelling — you notice how scenes are constructed
  • Ability to articulate what you see on screen with clarity and precision
  • Strong structured writing skills with attention to detail and consistency
  • Comfortable re-watching clips multiple times to ensure accuracy
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
  • No professional filmmaking or screenwriting experience required

Nice to Have

  • Background in film studies, media criticism, photography, or visual arts
  • Experience with screenwriting, storyboarding, or video production
  • Familiarity with cinematography terminology (shot types, angles, movement)
  • Experience in content annotation, copywriting, or structured writing workflows

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
  • Put your passion for film to practical use in a way that genuinely matters
  • Contribute to AI development that shapes how technology perceives and understands the visual world
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
