About the Role
What if your native Hindi fluency and sharp listening skills could directly shape how AI understands spoken language for hundreds of millions of people around the world? We're looking for detail-oriented Hindi-speaking transcriptionists across Australia to produce accurate, high-quality transcriptions of spoken Hindi audio — helping build the datasets that teach AI systems to truly listen.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role ideal for Hindi speakers across Australia's growing South Asian community who want meaningful, rewarding remote work on their own schedule. No prior AI experience is needed — just excellent listening skills, native-level Hindi, and a commitment to accuracy and consistency.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Listen to audio recordings in Hindi and produce accurate, detailed transcriptions following provided style and formatting guidelines
- Handle challenging audio scenarios — including crosstalk, overlapping speakers, filled pauses (um, uh), background noise, and varying audio quality
- Identify and label multiple speakers consistently throughout recordings
- Apply detailed formatting, punctuation, and notation conventions with precision
- Flag unclear or ambiguous audio segments according to project protocols
- Maintain high accuracy and consistency across large volumes of audio content
- Work independently and asynchronously — fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
- Native or near-native fluency in Hindi with an intuitive ear for the language's nuances, dialects, and colloquial expressions
- Exceptional listening skills — you can parse meaning even from noisy, fast-paced, or overlapping speech
- Highly detail-oriented with a methodical, patient approach to repetitive work
- Comfortable following detailed style guides and formatting rules consistently
- Strong typing skills and accuracy in Hindi script (Devanagari)
- Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
- Access to a quiet workspace and reliable internet connection
Nice to Have
- Professional experience as a transcriptionist, subtitle editor, or closed-captioning specialist
- Background in linguistics, language studies, or phonetics
- Prior work with annotation platforms, data labeling tools, or AI training projects
- Familiarity with transcription software or audio editing tools
- Experience handling multi-speaker or interview-format audio
- Strong English proficiency for navigating platform instructions and guidelines
