German Audio Transcript Editor – Zurich (AI Training)

$15-35/hrRemoteFreelanceAUDIO

About the Role

What if your ear for the German language could directly shape how AI understands and transcribes spoken words for millions of people? We're looking for detail-oriented German-speaking Transcript Editors in the Zurich area to clean up, correct, and polish audio transcripts — ensuring every word, timestamp, and formatting detail is exactly right.

This is precision work that makes a real difference. You'll listen carefully to audio recordings, compare them against existing transcripts, and make word-level corrections that help AI systems learn to hear and transcribe German with greater accuracy. Swiss German speakers and those with a strong ear for Swiss-influenced High German are especially encouraged to apply.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No AI background needed — just native-level German, strong listening skills, and a commitment to accuracy.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Listen to German audio recordings and review corresponding transcripts for accuracy
  • Correct errors at the word level — including misspellings, missing words, incorrect words, and misheard phrases
  • Verify and adjust precise timing and alignment of transcript segments
  • Apply detailed style and formatting guidelines consistently across all tasks
  • Flag audio segments that are unclear, overlapping, or otherwise challenging
  • Ensure proper handling of Swiss German dialect, Hochdeutsch, colloquial speech, filler words, and non-standard language as directed by project guidelines
  • Maintain high quality and consistency across large volumes of transcript work
  • Work independently and asynchronously — fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Native or near-native German speaker — Swiss German speakers and High German speakers based in Switzerland are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Excellent ear for spoken German across accents and registers, including Swiss varieties
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented — you notice the small things others miss
  • Comfortable working with word-level accuracy and exact timing
  • Able to follow detailed style and formatting guidelines precisely and consistently
  • Strong listening skills and the patience to replay and verify audio carefully
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
  • Comfortable using web-based tools and audio playback interfaces

Nice to Have

  • Experience as a transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer
  • Background in subtitle editing, closed-captioning, or audio post-production
  • Linguistics training or academic background in German language studies
  • Prior work with annotation platforms, data labeling tools, or AI training projects
  • Familiarity with transcription software or audio editing tools
