About the Role
What if your deep expertise in biochemistry could help shape the next generation of AI? At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build and refine cutting-edge models — and we need PhD-level biochemists to help us get the science right.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your knowledge of protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics directly influences how AI reasons about life science. No AI background required — just rigorous scientific thinking and a passion for accuracy.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Advanced Problems: Create challenging biochemistry problems spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI capabilities.
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions: Write precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for high-level AI scientific reasoning.
- Audit AI Outputs: Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy, scientific validity, and safety.
- Refine AI Reasoning: Identify and document logical errors — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied enzymatic mechanisms — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.
Who You Are
- PhD-level expertise: You hold (or are completing) a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
- Deep domain knowledge: Strong foundations in one or more areas including structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, genomics, or bioinformatics.
- Clear communicator: You can translate complex biochemical concepts into precise, well-structured written explanations.
- Detail-obsessed: You catch the errors others miss — whether in a chemical equation, a molecular diagram, or an experimental protocol.
- No AI experience required: We'll bring you up to speed on everything you need.
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, quality review, or evaluation workflows
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
- Background in scientific writing, peer review, or technical editing
