About the Role

What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and services that support AI training and deployment pipelines
- Write clean, well-tested, production-quality code in Python, Go, TypeScript, or similar languages
- Architect and optimize data pipelines, APIs, and microservices for performance and reliability at scale
- Collaborate with machine learning engineers and researchers to integrate models into production environments
- Troubleshoot complex distributed systems issues and drive root-cause analysis
- Contribute to system design decisions, code reviews, and engineering best practices
- Work across the stack as needed — from infrastructure and DevOps to frontend integration
- Operate independently with minimal supervision, managing your own priorities and deliverables
Who You Are
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of shipping production systems
- Deep proficiency in at least one modern programming language — Python, Go, Java, TypeScript, or Rust
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, data pipelines, or event-driven architectures
- Comfortable with relational and non-relational databases — PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, or similar
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence
- Strong written communication — you can document decisions clearly and collaborate effectively in async-first environments
- Self-directed and reliable — you ship quality work without needing someone looking over your shoulder
Nice to Have
- Experience with ML/AI infrastructure — model serving, training pipelines, vector databases, or LLM integration
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi), and observability tooling
- Background in high-throughput, low-latency systems or real-time data processing
- Open-source contributions or a portfolio of side projects that demonstrate engineering depth
- Experience working in remote-first or distributed engineering teams
- Exposure to NLP, large language models, or AI safety/alignment workflows
