Spanish (Spain) Audio Transcriptionist – AI Training

$15-35/hrRemoteFreelanceAUDIO

About the Role

What if your mastery of Peninsular Spanish — its distinct vocabulary, intonation, and regional flavour — could directly shape how AI understands real human conversation? We're looking for detail-oriented transcriptionists with native or near-native command of Spain Spanish to produce precise, high-quality transcriptions of spoken Spanish audio, helping build the datasets that teach AI to truly listen.

This role is open to Peninsular Spanish speakers in Buenos Aires. You'll work with real-world audio featuring crosstalk, multiple speakers, background noise, and natural speech patterns — turning authentic, messy conversation into clean, structured text. No prior AI experience needed.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Listen to audio recordings in Peninsular Spanish and produce accurate, verbatim transcriptions following detailed style and formatting guidelines
  • Handle challenging audio scenarios — including crosstalk, overlapping speakers, filled pauses (e.g., "eh", "mm"), background noise, and varying audio quality
  • Accurately identify and differentiate between multiple speakers within a single recording
  • Apply consistent formatting conventions for timestamps, speaker labels, non-verbal sounds, and unclear segments
  • Flag audio segments that are unintelligible or ambiguous, following established protocols
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail across all assignments
  • Work independently and asynchronously — fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Native or near-native speaker of Spain Spanish (Peninsular Spanish) — with an intuitive command of Castilian vocabulary, expressions, accents, and speech patterns
  • Exceptional listening skills with an ear for subtlety — you catch what others miss
  • Comfortable working with imperfect audio: background noise, fast speech, interruptions, and overlapping dialogue don't throw you off
  • Naturally detail-oriented with a methodical, patient approach to repetitive work
  • Able to follow detailed style guides and formatting rules with precision and consistency
  • Strong written skills in Spanish — your transcriptions read cleanly and accurately
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
  • No prior AI or tech experience required

Nice to Have

  • Professional experience as a transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer
  • Background in subtitle creation, closed-captioning editing, or media post-production
  • Training or experience in linguistics, phonetics, or language documentation
  • Prior work with annotation platforms, data labeling tools, or AI training workflows
  • Familiarity with different regional accents and dialects within Spain
  • Experience handling specialised or technical audio content
