About the Role

What if your years of biology training could directly shape how AI understands genetics, biotechnology, and the life sciences — for millions of people around the world?

We're looking for biology experts with advanced degrees to tackle complex, real-world scientific problems that help train cutting-edge AI models. Your expertise won't just sit on a shelf — it will be embedded into the AI systems that researchers, students, and professionals rely on every day.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No AI background needed — just deep scientific expertise and a sharp, rigorous mind.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Develop, solve, and critically review advanced biology problems with real-world scientific relevance
  • Apply your expertise in genetics, biotechnology, bioinformatics, or related disciplines to design complex, nuanced problem statements
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to enhance how AI models reason through biological concepts
  • Ensure scientific rigor, accuracy, and clarity across all deliverables
  • Work independently on task-based assignments — fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Holds a Master's or PhD in Biology or a closely related field (Genetics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, etc.)
  • Strong expertise in at least one of: genetics, biotechnology, or bioinformatics
  • Comfortable coding in Python or R for research or data analysis purposes
  • Exceptional written communicator — you can explain complex science with precision and clarity
  • Detail-oriented, rigorous, and self-motivated when working independently
  • Fluent in English and based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality review, or AI evaluation workflows
  • Background in research publication, peer review, or academic writing
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics pipelines, genomic datasets, or computational biology tools
  • Experience communicating science to non-specialist audiences

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside the world's leading AI research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based scientific work
  • Make a direct, tangible impact on how AI reasons through complex biology
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
