About the Role

We're looking for experienced security practitioners to bring real-world vulnerability management expertise to cutting-edge AI development. At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research teams to build smarter, safer AI systems — and we need people who know what actual security risk looks like in production environments.

If you've spent time triaging CVEs, managing patch cycles, or helping teams decide what actually needs to be fixed first, your knowledge is exactly what's needed to help AI reason about security the way human experts do.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Analyze vulnerability reports, CVEs, and exposure scenarios across infrastructure and applications
  • Classify severity, exploitability, and real-world impact using your practitioner judgment
  • Evaluate patching, mitigation, and remediation decision-making scenarios for accuracy and realism
  • Generate, label, and validate security-reasoning data used to train and evaluate AI systems
  • Help AI understand the difference between theoretical risk and what actually matters in production

Who You Are

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in vulnerability management, security operations, or infrastructure security
  • Familiar with CVEs, vulnerability scanners, patching workflows, and risk prioritization frameworks (CVSS, EPSS, etc.)
  • You understand the real-world tradeoffs that security teams face — not just what the textbook says
  • Analytical and structured in how you communicate and document findings
  • Comfortable working independently and asynchronously on task-based assignments

Nice to Have

  • Experience with tools like Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7, or similar platforms
  • Background in cloud or container security
  • Familiarity with threat intelligence or exploit research
  • Prior experience evaluating or training AI systems

Why Join Us

  • Work directly on frontier AI systems with top-tier research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule
  • Freelance autonomy with meaningful, intellectually engaging work
  • Your security expertise shapes how AI understands and reasons about real-world risk
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
