About the Role

We're looking for Japanese language experts to help evaluate and improve AI systems trained on Japanese-language content. Your linguistic insight and teaching experience will directly shape how AI understands, generates, and teaches Japanese — making a real impact on one of the world's most nuanced and complex languages.

  • Commitment: Minimum 15 hours/week, fully asynchronous

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate AI-generated Japanese speech and text for linguistic accuracy, naturalness, and educational quality
  • Assess learner speech and writing across proficiency levels from CEFR Pre-A1 through B2+
  • Identify learner errors, unnatural phrasing, and pedagogical gaps using your expert judgment
  • Suggest improvements for clear, idiomatic, and pedagogically sound Japanese
  • Provide structured feedback that directly improves AI tutoring and language-learning models
  • Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and fellow language experts

Who You Are

  • Native-level proficiency in Japanese
  • Experience teaching Japanese or evaluating learner language
  • Strong English communication skills (C1/C2)
  • Familiar with learner speech patterns and CEFR frameworks
  • Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Detail-oriented with consistent, reliable linguistic judgment
  • No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience with language assessment, curriculum design, or standardized testing
  • Exposure to AI-powered language tools or educational technology
  • Comfort working independently in structured, asynchronous workflows
