About the Role
What if your deep knowledge of Rust — memory safety, concurrency, systems performance — could directly influence how the next generation of AI understands and writes systems-level code?
We're looking for experienced Rust engineers to work alongside leading AI research teams, evaluating and improving AI-generated Rust code, building high-performance tooling, and helping ensure that AI systems produce code that's safe, correct, and production-ready.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for senior engineers who want meaningful, technically stimulating work on their own schedule.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Review and evaluate AI-generated Rust code for memory safety, concurrency correctness, and performance quality
- Design, build, and optimize high-performance Rust systems that support AI evaluation workflows
- Develop backend services and tooling for large-scale data validation and quality control
- Identify performance bottlenecks, edge cases, and system-level failure modes — then implement scalable, robust fixes
- Provide clear, structured technical feedback that helps AI models learn to write better Rust
Who You Are
- 5+ years of professional experience writing production-grade Rust with a strong focus on memory safety and concurrency
- Deep background in systems programming and performance optimization
- Able to think clearly about low-level system behavior and articulate complex concepts in plain language
- Fluent in English with strong written communication skills
- Self-directed and comfortable working asynchronously without close supervision
Nice to Have
- Experience with distributed systems architecture
- Background in developer tooling, compilers, or runtime systems
- Prior exposure to AI-generated code evaluation or code review at scale
- Familiarity with formal approaches to correctness or safety in systems design
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside the world's leading research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
- Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, technically rich work
- Apply your Rust expertise to a domain where it genuinely matters — AI that writes safe, performant systems code
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
