Aviation Communications Transcriber (ATC)

$12-25/hrRemoteFreelanceAUDIO

About the Role

We're building next-generation AI systems for aviation and autonomous flight — and we need people who actually understand what's being said on the radio.

This is not generic transcription work. This is a specialized, high-impact role for pilots, air traffic controllers, aviation students, and enthusiasts who can accurately capture the fast-paced, technical language of real-world ATC communications.

Your work will directly shape how AI systems understand aviation safety-critical communications.

  • Organization: Alignerr (Powered by Labelbox)
  • Type: Hourly / Task-Based Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Transcribe real-world Air Traffic Control (ATC) and pilot audio recordings with high accuracy
  • Label speakers, callsigns, instructions, readbacks, and clearances
  • Correctly capture aviation terminology, abbreviations, and standard phraseology
  • Complete task-based assignments on your own schedule
  • Maintain quality and accuracy standards — precision is everything in this role

Who You Are

You're a strong fit if you are:

  • A pilot (student or certified), Air Traffic Controller, or aviation professional
  • An aviation enthusiast who regularly listens to live or recorded ATC
  • Someone with a solid understanding of ICAO/FAA radio phraseology and callsign conventions
  • Extremely detail-oriented and patient with audio work
  • Comfortable working independently on a flexible, task-based schedule

You do not need to be a professional transcriptionist — but you do need to genuinely understand aviation communications.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with LiveATC, PilotEdge, VATSIM, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with different ATC environments (TRACON, Center, Tower, Ground)
  • Background in aviation operations, dispatch, or flight simulation
