About the Role

At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more scientifically rigorous AI models — and we need expert biochemists to help us do it.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your expertise becomes the benchmark. You'll challenge, evaluate, and refine advanced AI systems on some of the most complex topics in the life sciences — and you don't need any prior AI experience to get started.

What You'll Do
- Design Advanced Problems — Create rigorous biochemistry challenges across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to stress-test AI performance
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as the scientific gold standard for AI reasoning and benchmarking
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical derivations for scientific accuracy, logical consistency, and safety
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify and document failure modes — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemical reasoning, or misapplied enzyme kinetics — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
- Work Independently — Complete assignments asynchronously on your own schedule, with no rigid hours or location requirements
Who You Are
- Advanced Degree: PhD completed or in final stages in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline
- Domain Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, molecular genetics, or bioinformatics
- Analytical Communicator: Able to translate highly technical biological and chemical concepts into clear, precise written explanations
- Meticulous: High attention to detail when reviewing complex equations, molecular diagrams, reaction mechanisms, and experimental protocols
- No prior AI experience required — we'll get you up to speed
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or model evaluation workflows
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
- Background in scientific writing, peer review, or technical editing
