Principal Cloud Security Architect

$40-80/hrRemoteFreelanceCODING

About the Role

What if your deep knowledge of cloud architecture and security design could directly protect large-scale environments from the threats most teams never even see coming? We're looking for a Principal Cloud Security Architect to assess cloud infrastructures, identify architectural risk, and deliver the kind of structured, expert guidance that engineering teams actually act on.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for senior security professionals who thrive working independently and thinking at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Assess cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP for security gaps, misconfigurations, and long-term design flaws
  • Review IAM configurations, network segmentation, and resource policies for privilege risks and insecure patterns
  • Identify architectural weaknesses and document findings in clear, structured formats
  • Provide actionable mitigation guidance that balances depth with practical feasibility
  • Validate cloud deployments against established security frameworks and industry best practices
  • Support recurring assessments of evolving cloud environments and deployment patterns

Who You Are

Must-Have:

  • Deep, hands-on experience in cloud security architecture across major cloud platforms
  • Strong command of IAM models, network design principles, and cloud service security models
  • Ability to translate complex architectural risk into clear, structured documentation and recommendations
  • Sharp eye for misconfigurations, privilege escalation paths, and systemic security anti-patterns

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with multi-cloud environments, zero-trust architecture, or high-compliance regulated industries
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as CIS Benchmarks, NIST CSF, SOC 2, or FedRAMP
  • Background in cloud security tooling, CSPM platforms, or infrastructure-as-code security review

Why Join Us

  • Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule from anywhere
  • Freelance autonomy with meaningful, high-impact technical work
  • Engage with complex, large-scale cloud environments that genuinely challenge your expertise
  • Potential for ongoing engagements and contract extension as new assessments are scoped
  • Work that directly influences security posture at scale — not just reports that gather dust
