About the Role

We're looking for experienced Ruby Software Engineers to help design, evaluate, and improve real-world software systems used in AI training and data-driven workflows.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for working engineers who want to do meaningful, high-impact work on their own schedule — no office, no commute, no rigid hours.

What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Ruby and Ruby-based frameworks
- Review, analyze, and improve existing codebases for correctness, performance, and maintainability
- Evaluate realistic software engineering scenarios to help create and validate high-quality technical datasets
- Collaborate asynchronously with researchers and engineers to support AI training and evaluation efforts
- Apply production-grade engineering thinking to real-world backend and API problems
Who You Are
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in Ruby and backend development concepts
- Comfortable working with production codebases, RESTful APIs, and data-driven systems
- Detail-oriented and analytical — you can clearly explain your technical decisions in writing
- Self-motivated and dependable when working independently without close supervision
Nice to Have
- Experience with Ruby on Rails or other Ruby-based frameworks
- Familiarity with AI tools, data pipelines, or technical evaluation workflows
- Background in code review, system design, or software architecture
- Exposure to testing frameworks, debugging practices, or performance profiling
